Welcome to my discourses section. Tbis is basically a dumping ground for short essays over my opinions on various issues. Sometimes I change my mind or start to think differently on something, or comments on issues that are current events at the time become dated as the issue either fades or develops further. Therefore, older discourses can easily be, and probably are, very dated. I've decided to handle this by keeping them here (as relics of my thoughts at the time, if nothing else) and putting the date everything here was written, so that one can easily tell when they are dealing with an older discourse.

One may wonder why I use a relatively obscure word like "discourse" to describe these. Certainly, there are more well-known and widely-used words..."rants" comes to mind, for example. But a rant is a negative, usually scathing opinion. So is a tirade and a diatribe. I'm not out to blast anyone, I just want to tell the world what I think. The definition of "discourse", according to dictionary.com, is:

dis·course
n.
  1. Verbal expression in speech or writing.
  2. Verbal exchange; conversation.
  3. A formal, lengthy discussion of a subject, either written or spoken.
  4. Archaic. The process or power of reasoning.

I find this term to be a lot better for describing what I'm trying to do with this section of my site.

Feel free to send me an e-mail if you want to comment on any of these. Whether you agree or disagree, I always appreciate feedback. Just don't expect me to actually write back if your letter is nothing but unintelligent flames and banter. :b

That being said, click on any discourse title below to read it:
