News Archives: 2009

I kind of neglected things here and let the updates pile up. Allow me to go through them now.
- New story by me! It's called "Looking Back," and is available in three formats (.doc, .odt, or .txt) in my (adult) writings gallery.
- Four new pictures (one by Ritts, one by Gravewalker, and two by HerrAardy) in the (adult) guest art gallery.
- Two new pictures (both by It's a Trap) in the (mild) guest art gallery.
- Added my 17Cats page to the list of external links.
Sorry for letting the page get away from me like that.

New picture by It's a Trap! in the (adult) guest art gallery. Also, I removed the commission information page, as it was outdated.

I keep putting off fixing up the Fuzzy Outcome wing. Eventually. Anyway, new picture of Barius, drawn by Lysozyme, in the (mild) guest art gallery!

I haven't gotten around to fixing up the Fuzzy Outcome wing yet, but I did upload a new old issue of 2022 to the Old Comics section! Yes, a content update! I also fixed up the formatting of that section a bit while I was there.

This one took longer than I would have liked, but here it is.
- All remaining galleries and all of the news archives have been converted to the new layout. Unless I am blatantly forgetting something, this should mean that every last page has been converted and that the conversion is complete.
- Renamed and reorganized the news archives on a behind-the-scenes level (renaming the actual .html files, etc.) to coincide with the fact that they are now the sole news archives for the entire site, rather than one of two versions. (This should have no visible effect to actual site visitors, but I consider it worth mentioning that I did it anyway.)
- Upon further consideration, deleted the entire discourses section. It was just too embarrassing.
- Started a project to remove all of those bright blue buttons at the top of every site section and replace them with simple text headers. As of this update, everything but the Fuzzy Outcome archives has been converted. I am saving those for a seperate update, because there are over 50 pages of them and it was just too much to add to everything else I did in this update.
- New pictures in most of the art galleries! Three from me (Asyd/YiffyRaptor and Ahrashace in mild, Kjorteo genital reference in adult) and three from guests (Ahrashace by Asyd Rayn, Kjorteo and Sara by Gravewalker, and Kjorteo by Tactical Snake, all in mild.) The Tactical Snake one is slightly older; it is below the picture of Sara by It's a Trap! because I received it first, though I simply forgot to upload it back then.
Next up: going through the Fuzzy Outcome archives, de-centering and trading the button for a text header on ever page. Unless I'm forgetting something, that should be the end of the massive site overhaul, barring random minor tweaks here and there as I think of them.

Another update, though possibly not as major as the others have been recently:
- The Guest Art Gallery (adult) in the Spicy wing has been redone to match the new layout. Adult art (mine and guest) galleries down, writings and mild everything to go. The galleries are more labor-intensive than expected, and are thus taking longer than the other site sections.
- Guest Art Gallery (adult) has also been reorganized in general while I was at it. I changed the organization scheme from alphabetical by artist to chronological, with newest art at the top.
- Finished the Guest Art Gallery love with some updates; a brand-new picture of Slither and Sara drawn by Syrinoth, and an update to the Barius and Raess picture drawn by Piumartiglio. Even though the original Barius and Raess picture is older, the update (she fixed up Raess' foot, which she had been unsatisfied with in the older version) is new, and therefore currently at the top of the gallery.
- Decided to stop segregating the news for the mild and spicy sections. I will write the same news updates and make the same announcements, even those pertaining to Spicy-specific content, to both wings. I have completely removed the mild news archive, and turned the spicy news archive into the one news archive to which both wings now link.
As always, more to come soon, hopefully. Obviously I do not wish to leave the site in a half-finished state with some galleries overhauled and some not.

Pages redesigned to match new minimalist scheme:
- Warning page (when attempting to move from the splash page to the spicy section)
- Discourses, including front page and all archived articles
- My adult art gallery (only gallery page done so far, but this should give an idea of what the others will eventually look like as well.)
- Explanations (that page that's linked to adult galleries that explains all the tags, if clicking on the tag links doesn't work.)
Other changes:
- Everything that was retouched was also overhauled and redesigned while I was at it, like what happened to the arcade.
- Removed the SheezyArt and Something Awful discourses. I'm trying extremely hard not to unilaterally delete everything that's old and embarrassing now, but those were just unforgivable.
- URL hyperlinks removed from all the other discourses, though the text itself remains unchanged.
- Fixed up some of the explanations on the explanations page a bit.
- New picture in my adult art gallery! It's an updated genital reference sheet for Kjorteo.
To do:
- Continue applying the new design scheme to the rest of the site, obviously. Highest priorities as of this writing are the remaining art and writings galleries.
- Overhaul remaining art and writings galleries to match new design layout as seen in my adult art gallery.
- Re-examine the mild/spicy site split. Possibly do something about it? (Should I continue keeping spicy site update news out of the mild section as though it didn't exist, and keep two entirely distinct news archives for that purpose? Should I keep the separation but combine the news archives, or perhaps disregard the mild section and combine the site altogether? Does anyone actually still use a mild site variant these days?)
More to come soon, hopefully.
January 2, 2009
One part of my head just received a memo that the other had apparently been trying to send for a while now but that somehow kept getting lost. Apparently it's no longer 1995, and thus I should probably stop making kjorteo.net look like it belongs on GeoCities, what with the frames and the Infinite Fish backgrounds and so on. (At least there weren't any embedded MIDIs, though, right?) I've decided to kick off the new year by giving the entire site a complete page-by-page overhaul. The new design is somewhat...minimalist, as you can see. I never was what one would consider "good at web design," so at this point, I think "the less there is, the less there is wrong to be offended by" is about the must successful design philosophy I'm going to get. Of course, there are quite a few pages to cover, -and- I have a lot of other updates I need to do as well, so this is only the beginning of a project that is nowhere near complete yet. Current status:
- All indexes (front splash page, mild and spicy front pages,) and the arcade, commission info, and Fuzzy Outcome pages including full archives have all been converted to the new design. That doesn't sound like a lot when summarized like that, but the Fuzzy Outcome archives have something like 59 pages and I'm not quite fancy enough to have a way of mass-editing all of them simultaneously. Also, the old comics section matches the new design as well, though it kind of did already, and in fact was the inspiration for converting the rest of the site.
- In other news, the arcade has been completely overhauled on a content level as well, since the old page was...painful. A few games and most of the utilities have been trimmed, and the page has been completely redesigned to present the remaining games in a manner that is hopefully slightly less hideous. I also redesigned the site navigation links on the mild and spicy front pages, fixed a lack of links to more recent years in the news archives, and also took the opportunity to add links to new site sections I had quietly launched and forgotten to mention (such as old comics and commission info.)
To do list:
- Apply the new design scheme to the rest of the site
- Take the time I'm working on the rest of the site anyway to subtly clean up the HTML and fix random mistakes wherever they may still be
- Add a bunch of pictures to the galleries
- Possibly do something about some of the embarrassingly ancient sections, depending on how bad they are now and what, if anything, could be done. (The arcade was easily the worst offender and has now been fixed, but I suspect it wasn't alone.)
I hope to work quickly as far as the redesign, or at the very least, I hope it won't be another eight months just to get the rest of the site recolored to match what I've done so far. I don't like it looking and being half-finished either. We'll see, though.
